Andrew Sloan
Over the past decade, Andrew Sloan's pop graphic paintings and illustrations have appeared on a wide variety of surfaces and media. From outdoor murals and restaurant walls, to cars and clothes, Sloan has developed a distinctive style incorporating vivid colors and bold lines.
With a background in creative strategy and packaging design and a degree in Anthropology, his influences include cartoons, maps, graffiti, corporate logos, pop art, typography, youth and street culture and popular music. Working much of the time on canvas, Sloan also utilizes recycled doors, projection screens, plastic table tops, shutters and found construction materials. Commercially, Sloan's images and hand drawn type have been used for restaurant signage, CD covers and band backdrops, event flyers, T-shirts and advertising.
In the summer of 2006, Sloan relocated from Miami Beach to Providence, Rhode Island. andrew@newsheriff.com
