James Weaver

James Weaver, of Aptos, CA, creates collages, constructing them from his collection of billboard tatters and various papers. Each work is an abstract interpretation of how billboards were, and are today, constructed. In the past, dot images were silkscreened onto large pieces of paper, overlapped and then pasted onto the billboard metal backing. These days, computer-generated images are printed directly onto large weatherproof curtains and are hung with ropes to cover entire fronts of buildings.

James has produced and exhibited his mostly Abstract art since the 1970's, both inside and outside this country. Before retiring in 2007, he taught a variety of lectures and hands-on art studio classes at both Truckee Meadows College and Western Nevada College.
